How to Join Us
On the Day of the Podcast Recording
Hi there! It’s Fei (same as “Fay”),
I’m the producer behind The Random Plan Podcast. Great to meet you!
Please watch this short video to get a sense of what’s expected on the day of the recording - including your video and audio setup. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at michael@michaelleckie.com
Prefer to read the instructions instead of watching the video? See below.
Our recording software of choice: Zoom (standard HD quality) or Riverside (4K recording quality)
To make the setup as easy as possible, we will be using Zoom for the podcast recording as the default option. However, if you prefer higher-quality recording to repurpose the content for your social media later on, we can use Riverside which offers 4K recording quality. The option is up to you.
Microphone
If you have an external microphone, we highly recommend that you use it for the interview because it will make the sound quality higher. If not, feel free to use whatever is available to you and we will do our best to enhance the sound in post-production.
Webcam
We prefer that you use an external webcam (such as Logitech or equivalent) for the recording. If it’s not available, you should feel free to use the built-in webcam on your computer, or you can join with your mobile phone or tablet if that’s more comfortable for you.
Lighting
Natural lighting can work well for the recording. Please face the window if available. Alternatively, you can turn on the lights in your room. Ideally, the lights should be in front of you, and not an overhead light which may create shadows on your face.
Most importantly, we believe content is what matters most. Don’t sweat the setup and technical details too much.
